Last weekend was one of the best I’ve had in awhile. We drove home to celebrate Mommy’s 80th birthday and it turned out far better than I could have hoped for. Good music, positive vibes only, family and friends that I haven’t seen in awhile, delicious food (I don’t know who the caterer was but they killed it), and on the beach. Did I mention that it was on the beach? The ocean is my favorite place to relax and unwind, even though the water was rough from the tropical storm (now Hurricane Dorian). My cousin/big sister, Rhonda did an excellent job planning and putting together the entire affair and she low-key missed her calling as an event planner…she DID that. And I’m grateful.
I did manage to check a few things off my To-Do list. I thought I’d manage knocking down two blog posts AND complete two unfinished chapters in the book that I’ve been struggling with writing for years. Got the posts done, and some other non-listed items, but those particular chapters—not so much. I’ve rewritten the end to a difficult chapter at least five times and each re-write makes me anxious as hell. Es no bueno, homey…I want to give these women peace, they’ve more than earned it.
On another note, I’m finding it kinda
difficult stressful reading/watching/hearing a lot of the information floating around out there…the internet can be mad toxic with so many personalities and opinions milling around. We already know what the street committee says about opinions, so I’ll just leave that right there.
A few months ago, I watched a TED Talk where the speaker suggested doing an annual “cleanse” of your life, including social media feeds and people. Because of the timing, her message resonated with me deeply as I’d just abandoned my original FB page and decided to focus my energy on writing this blog and venturing into other things. If I didn’t need a personal page in order to create a business one, please believe me when I say I wouldn’t have it. If there’s another way around this, let me know. Small changes have made a significant difference in terms of what I have managed to accomplish in a short period of time and it all boils down to positive and negative energy.
This may be a good time to re-evaluate some things. And I’m good with that. Everything and everyone is not your cup of tea and neither are you theirs…and it’s OfreakinK. My primary focus right now is on being more accountable for my family, maintaining a good handle on my mental health, and creating some things that will benefit Jaxon. Period.
Transparency is not a cliche term when your motives are pure.
Be REAL. Be real with others and for the love of Christ, be real with yourself. Be open to exploring and trying things that you’ve either abandoned or been unwilling to pursue properly out of fear.
We weren’t designed to live fearfully…
Anywho, y’all keep it in the road and be kind to others and yourself!
Hugs and blessings,
